They went on to play Spring hockey as the only GBMH players AND the only female players on their team. The had an amazing season losing only 1 game in regular season play and 1 game in tournament play - with Sophia being named permanent Team Captain for both tournaments.
Travis wasn't able to play the Championship Game due to an injury from a previous game, although he gave it a try for 2 shifts!
They won both the Nova Scotia Cup and the Atlantic Cup. WAY TO GO LADIES & TRAVIS!!

Remembering George Bourgeois

The Glace Bay Miners hockey family is saddened to learn the passing of George Bourgeois, on May 19, 2022, in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, at the age of 74.

“The impact that the Bourgeois family has had on GBMH is synonymous with the Fords, O’Neill’s and other prominent  hockey families throughout the history of our town,” said Glace Bay Minor Hockey President James Edwards.

It seems there has always been a Bourgeois player, coach or official in Glace Bay hockey circles.

According to family George was a lover of sports, and grew up playing hockey. It was a lifetime activity he enjoyed right through to his 60s.

Our thoughts are with his wife, daughters, and the Bourgeois family.
