Congratulations to the U15-AA who captured gold on Sunday at the Emera Centre in North Sydney. 

The Miners defeated the Sydney Steelers in the Championship game to capture the North Sydney U15-AA tournament.

Congratulations to our players and coaches of the U13A Miners, who captured the 41st annual Strait Richmond Hockey Tournment in Port Hawkesbury! 

Glace Bay U18AA took home gold at the Steel Town Showdown in Membertou on Thursday defeating County in a close contest 2-1.

Trailing 1-0 after 40 minutes the Miners rallied late and Braedan Hogan score game winner to seal the deal.

Melanie MacDonald of Port Hood earned a grand prize of $187,984 from the Glace Bay Minor Hockey Association’s 50/50 Christmas Draw

After association office manager Tracey Hanrahan left a voicemail message about the grand prize win, MacDonald returned the call several minutes later.

“Oh my God, I can’t believe this. I was just putting up my Christmas lights (when you called),” a very delighted MacDonald told Hanrahan through her smartphone speaker.

“I feel incredible. This was a complete and total shock. Oh my gosh … it definitely hasn’t quite sunk in yet.”
